Custom Carpentry Services on Cape Cod
Rot repair, interior trim, built-ins, exterior trim, doors and windows, from carpenters who have worked on Cape houses for twenty years and can match the profile on a 1790 casing.
Who provides carpentry services on Cape Cod?
Coast Carpentry Home Group is a team of Cape Cod carpenters based at 14 Parker Rd in Osterville. Our custom carpentry services cover structural and rot repair, interior trim and built-ins, exterior trim, door and window installation and the small jobs that other contractors will not take. The carpenters on your project are our own employees, we are licensed and insured in Massachusetts, and we work in all fifteen Barnstable County towns.
Carpentry is the trade everything else sits on. Here is what it covers for us.
Roofing, siding, kitchens and additions all start with carpenters. These are the jobs people call us for by name.
Rot repair and structural carpentry
Sills, rim joists, corner boards, window casings and deck ledgers rot first in salt air. We cut out the damage, fix the leak that caused it and rebuild with the right lumber and flashing.
Interior trim and finish carpentry
Crown, base, casings, wainscoting and the fillers that make a room read as finished. We match existing profiles in older Capes so repairs disappear.
Built-ins and custom millwork
Window seats, bookcases, mudroom cubbies, pantry walls and islands built to the room, not to a catalog. Low ceilings and out-of-level floors are the normal condition here.
Exterior trim
Rake boards, fascia, frieze, corner boards and window trim in cedar, PVC or fiber cement, flashed so the wall behind them stays dry.
Door and window installation
Entry doors, sliders and replacement windows set plumb, flashed and insulated. Coastal-rated units where the exposure calls for them.
Small jobs and repairs
A sticking door, a soft spot in a floor, a stair tread that moves. No job is too small, and many of our long-term clients started with one.

Cape houses are old, damp and rarely square. That is the work.
A carpenter on the Cape spends a lot of time on water damage that did not have to happen. Salt air corrodes fasteners, wind-driven rain finds any unflashed joint, and humidity from June to September keeps wood from ever fully drying. The first thing we do on most repair calls is find where the water came in, because replacing a rotted sill without fixing the leak just schedules the next repair.
The second thing is matching what is there. Antique Capes along Route 6A, Victorian cottages in Hyannis Port and Falmouth Heights, shingle-style houses in Osterville and Chatham all carry trim profiles that nobody stocks anymore. We mill or source matching profiles so a repaired casing looks original, and on 6A homes we keep the Old King's Highway committee in mind on anything visible from the road.
The third is the geometry. Floors drop, ceilings sit at seven and a half feet, and walls bow. Factory cabinets and stock trim assume none of that. Scribing, fillers and a level that gets used every ten minutes are what separate carpentry from installation, and it is why custom carpentry services here are a different job than the same work inland.

Carpenters for every Cape town.
One shop in Osterville, carpenters across Barnstable County.
Upper Cape
Bourne, Sandwich, Falmouth and Mashpee. Sandwich has the oldest houses on the Cape and the most antique trim to match. Falmouth's village cottages bring plenty of exterior trim and rot work.
Home renovations in Sandwich →Mid-Cape
Barnstable's seven villages (Hyannis, Osterville, Centerville, Cotuit, Marstons Mills, West Barnstable, Barnstable Village), Yarmouth and Dennis. Our home turf and where most of our trim, built-in and repair work happens.
General contractor in Yarmouth →Lower Cape
Harwich, Brewster, Chatham and Orleans. Shingle-style waterfront houses with a lot of exterior trim exposed to the Atlantic.
Outer Cape
Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown. Cottages with low ceilings and tight rooms that want built-ins, and exterior trim that salt gets from both sides.
Serving Cape Cod only. We do not work on Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard or off-Cape. Shop and office: 14 Parker Rd, Osterville, MA 02655.
